Bio
Frank Klinger's Windchilfacter, an original rock band five decades in the making, is lead by Hamilton, Ontario based singer-songwriter, composer and guitarist, Frank Klinger.
At six years of age, Frank had his first guitar lesson. He starting writing music in his early teens and now, almost 50 years after that first guitar lesson, with dozens of songs and instrumental compositions ready to record and play, he has formed Windchilfacter with Sean O'Grady (lead producer, drums, percussion), Joel Banks (producer, bass), Miles Evans (producer, keyboards, backup vocals) and Chris Ayries (backup vocals and backup vocal arranging).
In September 2017, less than five months after the first rehearsal with Sean O'Grady and Joel Banks in Frank's basement studio, they recorded their first album, "Hard Echoes" at the world renowned Grant Avenue Studio in downtown Hamilton.
In the late spring/summer of 2018, Windchilfacter went back into the studio and recorded their second album, City of Waterfalls. The band took their sound to another level with the addition of Miles Evans and Chris Ayries, so the next project was obvious to Frank. He went back to "Hard Echoes" and added Miles and Chris! "Hard Echoes-Remix" is now part of the Windchilfacter discography.
"Musical ideas are like butterflies floating around in my head; sometimes I pick one off and save it. Once I have a guitar in my hand, it doesn't take long to find a melody. I had no idea how talented these musicians are," said Klinger of his new bandmates. "When Sean pulled in Miles, the whole sound of the band went to another level. All these guys are intelligent and intuitive when it comes to music. The arrangement is their interpretation of the song."
Windchilfacter's rock/pop/blues influences range from Led Zeppelin to The Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Alan Parsons, Elton John, Boston, Gordon Lightfoot, Carly Simon, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, The Who, and David Bowie.
Over the past year, the band has been performing at well-established music venues in Hamilton as well as other cities in Southern Ontario and plan to release their third album later in 2019.
